What is the Safer School Program?
The Safer School Travel Program (SST) is a web-based tool that assists Parent Advisory Councils in the development of School Road Safety Plans.
A significant planning process has been developed for laypeople (in a road safety context), with support provided by a technical engineering specialist and a Safer School Travel specialist.
What is a School Road Safety Plan?

A School Road Safety Plan identifies safety issues within the walk/cycle limits of a school and then determines measures to address these issues.

A Road Safety Plan, once completed, provides an implementation plan that should include:

strategies for all road users (pedestrians, cyclist, buses, cars);
vehicle reduction initiatives;
engineering, education and enforcement measures; and,
parent and community measures.

Before beginning the program be sure to review the information in “USING THIS TOOL” by clicking on the button on the right hand side of the screen.
